Valerie Karpan: Hydraulic Border Intervals

Hydraulic Border Intervals is an installation and artistic research project that explores borders as environmental and infrastructural conditions emerging through the entanglement of military violence, changing landscapes, and the circulation of people, water, and sound.

K.I.-gestütze, digitale Visualisierung des historischen Hörsaals des TA T – Tieranatomisches Theater der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, transformiert in eine atmosphärische Unterwasserlandschaft. Der halbkreisförmige Hörsaal erscheint in tiefen Blau- und Türkistönen, durchzogen von Lichtreflexen, die an Wasseroberflächen erinnern. Von einer runden Öffnung in der Kuppel fällt blaues Licht in den Raum. In den bogenförmigen Fenstern scheinen Unterwasserszenen mit Meereslebewesen sichtbar zu sein. Die geschwungenen Sitzreihen und Geländer des Hörsaals bleiben erkennbar, wirken jedoch wie von Wasser umgeben oder überflutet. Die Darstellung verbindet historische Architektur mit einer poetischen, immersiven Tiefseeatmosphäre.

SENSING THE DEEP

A journey into the deep sea and into our perception: In an experimental deep listening session, Felix Sattler brings together literature, science, and sound as a multisensory deep-sea excursion.
